Dr Jodi Pritchard
B.Hth.Sci. (Chinese Medicine)
Dr Jodi Pritchard is a graduate of the Southern School of Natural Therapies, where she achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science (Chinese Medicine). She is also registered with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia and is a Member of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association.
Jodi has always been passionate about health, wellness and preventing disease using holistic and natural approaches wherever possible. Her passion for Chinese medicine resulted from her first-hand experiences over a ten-year period spent living and working in Asia.
Of particular interest to Jodi is the Chinese medicine philosophy of treating the root cause of a disease or ailment, as opposed to the physical or emotional symptoms, as well supporting the body’s intrinsic healing capability to restore a natural state of balance. To establish the underlying cause of any health problem, Jodi relies on the traditional methods of in-depth discussion and palpation, tongue and pulse examinations. From there, her recommended treatments depend entirely on the patient’s individual needs.
Jodi has a passion for working with children, treating anxiety and insomnia, and is also a skilled practitioner of cosmetic acupuncture.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does acupuncture hurt?
Not usually. It does involve puncturing the skin, so you will feel a series of sensations, but there should be negligible pain. Rest assured, our practitioners are committed to ensuring your ultimate comfort and the most pain-free acupuncture experience possible, by adopting the gentlest approach. In fact, many first-time clients report their surprise at how pain-free their experience was!
We also offer non-invasive laser acupuncture for those who prefer a needle-free approach, and for the kids, we use a very gentle Japanese approach known traditionally as Shonishin. Using small tools to stroke or press specific points on the body, the aim of this painless technique is to restore and stimulate natural healing mechanisms.
